A Review - November
An interesting month as well as a tad busy… It started with taking possession of the new house on Nov 10th. That night I ripped out the 1970’s carpet that was still in the master bedroom. My son (now a new Dad on Nov 1st with the birth of McKenzie) Reg came to help me… remember I still have a foot that is somewhat busted. Anyway, the carpet is out and we further our plans for the work we need to do.
November 11th after the Remembrance Day thing we do at the “Field of Honour” at Woodlawn we went for our usual lunch. Most of the kids were there and so was Mom and my sister Sue. Dad is buried in the place of honour and we have made it a yearly thing to visit the memorial and place a wreath while music plays in the background. We share this moment with everyone and each person in the cemetery that day stood while the “Last Post” was played which was followed by Two Minutes of Silence in honour of those “Who Walked for us All”.
The retreat sounded on cue and soon people began to mill about once again visiting family and those around the grounds. It was a very solemn but needed event for us. We did need to get moving on to lunch as our new home was having an energy assessment done so we could make use of the various grants. The next day a crew was over ripping out our old furnace and water heater and installing a new high efficiency unit. New kitchen was to arrive soon and Brigitte along with a band of volunteers set out to get rid of the circus colours on the walls and bring the house and its décor up to date.
Day by day the house took shape and we were soon moving into it. Along with the work being done upstairs I was downstairs ripping out a wall to make the stairs exit into a friendly scene instead of the laundry and furnace room. I managed to get things done right and Mike Holmes would not be entirely upset with me. I did not cut corners but I am certain he would find something not quite up to his standards.
With minimal work being done in the studio as it was difficult to climb the stairs I will once again post images as a bit of a review. Once I am caught up on this insane blog the entries should be more regular, stable and personal…Labels: Chelsey L, Kendra P, Natasha W, Remembrance Day, Rochelle, Those who walk for us all
